The Australian Psychological Society (APS) recommends an hourly rate for psychological services of $300 (2023-2024 financial year).

If you have a GP referral (MHTP) you are eligible for a Medicare rebate for 10 sessions per calendar year.

Medicare rebate: There is no Medicare rebate available for couples therapy unless your GP has recommended and provided one person in the relationship with an MHTP. Please discuss directly with your practitioner.

On your appointment confirmation and appointment reminder emails – Can you please click on the Intake Form link and fill out this form online. This will save you time and allows your psychologist to spend more time with you. Appointments are 50 minutes in duration

Information regarding your appointment will remain confidential unless there is risk of harm to you or others, as otherwise
required by law.

Counselling in Melbourne psychologists are registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and have Medicare provider numbers, enabling you to claim a Medicare rebate for your counselling session.

By obtaining a GP, psychiatrist or paediatrician referral in the form of a Mental Health Care Plan, may be eligible to receive a Medicare rebate for up to 10 individual counselling sessions per calendar year.

If you have extras cover you will be able to claim a rebate from your health fund provider. As the rebate varies depending on your level of cover please call your Health Provider for more information.
